The Tufts Career Center provides comprehensive career development assistance to undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni from Arts, Sciences and Engineering, and the SMFA at Tufts. We provide individual career advising, drop-in hours, online resources, workshops, graduate school advising, career and internship fairs, networking and presentations with alumni and employers, job and internship search assistance including online listings. What You'll Do
This is a hybrid position that requires at least 2 days per week on campus. This position serves students on both the SMFA and Medford campus’ and requires on campus in-person interactions both on the SMFA campus and the Medford campus, as well as availability outside of regularly scheduled hours.
The Assistant Director, Arts, Communications and Media will provide career advising to undergraduates, graduate students and recent alumni interested in any aspect of Arts, Communications and Media. They will work with students on all phases of career readiness, including, but not limited to: identifying and articulating career interests/competencies/values, choosing majors or programs of study; developing networking skills, employing internship and job search strategies; graduate school planning; securing grants and residencies; and helping to connect students and alumni to the creative economy.
The Assistant Director will organize speakers, expert panels, and skill building workshops, site visits/treks and other innovative events to enhance the understanding of and readiness for positions in the same areas of Arts, Communications and Media. They will engage key internal and external constituents, including faculty, parents/families, alumni and prospective employers to build support for career services. In addition, the Assistant Director will collaborate with the Career Center Employer Relations Team to identify and cultivate relationships with organizations that have the potential to hire students interested in the fields of Arts, Communications and Media.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge and experience typically acquired by a Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of directly related professional experience.
- Master’s Degree in related field of study strongly preferred.
