The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Director of Contracts and Grants position. This role is mission-critical to the college and supports all facets of externally funded grant administration, including identifying funding opportunities, directing pre and post-award activities, monitoring, and ensuring compliance.

The selected candidate for this position will be a problem solver by nature, laser-focused on building processes that remove barriers and support successful outcomes, and have a passion for pursuing and increasing funding opportunities. This is an exciting time to lead the contracts and grants team for the College of Veterinary Medicine, whose mission includes a visionary and ambitious pursuit and advancement of research enterprise.

The Director will have the opportunity to play an integral role in advancing veterinary research through collaboration with faculty to develop proposals, ensuring sponsor requirements are met, and compliance is maintained. This position also facilitates account setup, contracts/grants monitoring, applying extensions and reallocations to fulfill project requirements.

The Director of Contracts and Grants facilitates two major research programs, DHS S&T (canine) and Emergent (equine). Auburn was selected by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate, or DHS S&T, to spearhead an interdepartmental, interagency, and multi-institutional collaboration to drive the development of scientifically validated procedures, training, and canine mobile sensing technologies, with broad applications to the whole of the homeland security mission. Auburn University created the Detection Canine Science, Innovation, Technology and Education Program, also known as DCSITE, a 5-year, $24 million research contract supports DCSITE operations to ultimately fulfill the DHS S&T mission as the primary resource for expertise in all areas of detection canine sciences. The Director of Contracts and Grants position is central to the execution of this program!
