Manchester University seeks a results-driven, visionary strategist and change agent with a track record of success reaching new markets to grow enrollment in new and innovative ways. The highly collaborative and engaging leader demonstrates a proven track record of success motivating teams towards a common goal in achieving enrollment growth for multiple audiences.

 

Utilizing current trends, best practices and previous experience, the successful candidate employs a data-driven approach to target and grow a student body well-suited for Manchester University, a multi-campus institution comprised of undergraduate liberal arts, graduate, and professional degree programs. This dynamic leader is comfortable prioritizing and managing multiple operations within the scope of responsibilities covered by the VPEM including undergraduate and graduate enrollment, and institution-wide marketing, including web assets and social media.

 

As a key member of the President’s Cabinet, the VPEM participates in all institution-wide planning, embraces the University’s mission, and supports its enrollment goals. The VPEM also supports the Board of Trustees’ committee by addressing enrollment and marketing issues.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversees comprehensive enrollment and marketing strategy for the University
  • Oversees undergraduate admissions, including developing and executing recruitment plans, conducting data analysis, and overseeing operations
  • Works collaboratively (with dotted-line reporting of appropriate staff) with graduate and professional programs on recruiting, admissions and marketing in order to meet enrollment and revenue goals
  • Oversees development and execution of institutional financial aid strategies, working closely with Student Financial Services, the CFO and others to meet institutional net student revenue and discounting goals
  • Oversees institutional messaging and marketing for the University and all University programs, working with marketing and strategic communications teams to design and implement an integrated plan to build the University’s visibility and reputation
  • Works with the strategic initiatives team to identify the market potential of new initiatives and develop and implement marketing and recruiting plans for those the University pursues
  • Works collaboratively with the Vice President for Student Life and others to implement retention strategies
  • Serves as the primary liaison with various consulting services, as appropriate

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant (5 or more years) senior management experience in higher education or a related field, including experience with admissions, recruiting and marketing
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent credentialing
  • Successful history of effective leadership, teamwork and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong statistical and analytical skills
  • Successful history as a generator of new ideas
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • Ability to work with and nurture a diverse workforce in a diverse community
  • Effective team-building and team-management skills
  • Facility with appropriate software, including word processing and spreadsheet software

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree
  • Multi-campus administrative experience
