The Office of the Vice-President, Students (VPS) is responsible for shaping the experience and learning environment for UBC undergraduate and graduate students. Working in partnership with faculties, First Nations House of Learning and student governments, they strive to create, through programs and services, a supportive, enriching and inclusive environment for students across our vibrant Point Grey and Okanagan campuses.

An incredible opportunity exists to provide leadership and direction to the Student Services portfolio for one of the world’s leading universities. Reporting directly to the President and Vice Chancellor, the Vice President for Students will cultivate and coordinate institutional structures and programs to ensure UBC achieves its vision for an exceptional student experience where all students achieve their full potential and contribute to a civil and sustainable society.

As a member of the executive team, the Vice President, Students is responsible for creating a unified and coordinated approach to serve students in the most effective manner possible and to ensure students succeed through a supportive and inclusive environment but will also be challenged to investigate and reach their potential through enhanced student learning opportunities.

The new Vice President will inspire a team of experienced Senior Directors throughout a broad portfolio to support the university’s achievement of its strategic goals. Serving as an institutional leader on all student-related issues and concerns, the Vice President will champion the intellectual and social growth of a diverse population and ensure that all students see themselves as full, included and participating students and members of the UBC community.

UBC is seeking a visionary leader who will engage in creating and supporting a vibrant and future-oriented Student Services department. As a seasoned senior leader from a comparable institution with an appropriate advanced degree, you will use a collaborative approach in the development of university-wide policies, short and long term strategic plans, budgetary accountability structures, succession management procedures and campus initiatives. You will have held senior administrative responsibilities for a similar portfolio of student services and be seen as a leader and innovator. The ideal candidate is accomplished both academically and professionally, and is resilient, passionate and outcomes-oriented.
