Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management, the Director of Student Success and Retention (Director IV) will lead retention initiatives and is responsible for the implementation and assessment of a comprehensive retention action plan for the University based on current trends and best practices. The Director will identify contributing factors and proactively devise and lead strategies for academic success and retention; develop and implement University retention goals and strategies; track retention activities; assess efficacy; develop and organize cohorts; recommend changes to the administration to enhance retention efforts; and perform related work as required.

The Director is a key member of the enrollment management team who works in collaboration with faculty, staff and administrators throughout the university to provide essential support services to Kean University students and promote individual student success. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in higher education with a focus on retention, student communications and/or student services is required. Master’s degree and experience directing retention initiatives is preferred. Candidate must have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; student information systems experience (Colleague/Ellucian preferred); and knowledge of reporting and statistical/analytical tools (such as SPSS) and presentation software. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
