The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for the position of Dean, College of Education (CEDU). UAEU is the first federal university, founded in 1976 and is approaching its 50th anniversary. UAEU remains the only fully comprehensive university in the UAE. It is situated in the historic city of Al Ain, which is about 100km inland from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. UAEU is becoming a research-intensive institution. It enrolls approximately 20,000 students, with a growing international student body. As UAE’s flagship university, it offers a full range of accredited, high-quality graduate and undergraduate programs through its nine colleges.
The College of Education was among the first colleges to be established at UAEU, with a legacy of preparing highly qualified teachers, educational leaders, counselors, and specialists who serve the UAE and the region. CEDU has earned a strong reputation for its contributions to teacher education, curriculum development, educational research, and innovation in pedagogy. The College employs distinguished international faculty with extensive expertise in diverse areas of education and is committed to advancing both research and practice.
The position of Dean offers a unique opportunity to lead the College of Education at a transformative moment in the University’s history. The Dean will articulate and implement a forward-looking vision that enhances the College’s impact on education in the UAE and beyond. This includes reimagining teacher preparation and leadership programs to meet the demands of a rapidly changing educational landscape shaped by technology, innovation, and global best practices. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the College.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading the College in alignment with UAEU’s strategic vision and mission.
• Managing all administrative, financial, and academic operations of the College.
• Overseeing curriculum development, faculty affairs, student life, institutional assessment, and continuous improvement.
• Supporting faculty development, promotion, and evaluation, while fostering excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
• Strengthening the College’s research profile and increasing external funding.
• Cultivating partnerships with schools, government entities, industry, and international academic institutions.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative and visionary leader with a demonstrated commitment to educational excellence and academic innovation.
Minimum qualifications include:
• A Ph.D. in Education or a closely related field from a recognized university.
• Appointment at the rank of Full Professor, with a minimum of 15 years of higher education experience, including at least 8 years of leadership in a research-intensive institution.
• A strong track record of scholarly research, publications, citations, and externally funded projects.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and educational leadership.
• Proven record of academic and professional accomplishments, with effective leadership experience.
• Ability to establish collaborations and partnerships with schools, ministries of education, and leading universities worldwide.
• Demonstrable success in securing external funding and promoting community and societal engagement.
