Auburn University’s Office of Information Technology is seeking a visionary and dynamic HPC Manager to lead our High-Performance Computing team into its next era of innovation.     Essential Functions



      • Manages both complex and routine projects. Frequently interfaces with constituents, including management and/or internal teams to ensure quality, timeliness, and testing of all work

      • Manages, coordinates and evaluates human resources in support of HPC group objectives and OIT’s mission

      • Participates in the coordination, implementation, and support of Auburn’s research mission and technology vision

      • Manages HPC strategy while maintaining knowledge of the current technologies and research IT infrastructure

      • Maintains a thorough understanding of group service offerings and billing while working directly with customers and OIT accounting staff

      • Maintains internal and external customer relationships in support of the group’s service catalog

      • Coordinates group projects and serves as a liaison with OIT project management

    Minimum Qualifications



    Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, plus five (5) years of experience.

    Area of experience: Experience in a specific IT specialty. Knowledge of project and operations management to include team leadership skills including motivating team and group processes, team collaboration, empowering, coaching, mentoring, training, ethical integrity, championing diversity and inclusiveness, and supervising staff. Ability to translate specific strategic information into operational programs. Industry related skills to include knowledge of the IT industry and trends, knowledge of IT security regulations, and proficiency in ITIL.

    Substitution allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.




    Minimum Skills and Abilities



     

    Must have knowledge of the specification, acquisition, provisioning, and management of High-Performance Computing environments utilizing large scale Linux cluster hardware and interconnections, research workload management methods and administration, large parallel file system administration, and Cloud Technologies.


    Must have knowledge of information technology principles and applications, IT system management methodologies, and new technologies.
