Career Discovery and Success leads and supports the University’s strategic goals for student achievement by supporting students’ post-graduation outcomes through a coordinated approach to comprehensive, innovative, and high impact career services across the campus landscape. To achieve this strategic mission, opportunities to build career connections and custom engagement opportunities between students, employers, and alumni is essential. The Director for Employer and Alumni Engagement envisions and implements operational strategies to create efficient and effective processes and communication channels to enhance productive interactions across the campus career services network, and between all stakeholders who have a vested interest in alumni, employer, and corporate engagement.
As a member of the Career Discovery and Success leadership team, the Director builds programs and a team that sets bold goals and innovative plans to establish meaningful connections with alumni and employers while supporting university career development initiatives and fostering opportunities for career exploration, competency development, experiential learning, and post-graduation employment. Through their work, the Director expands the footprint of engaged companies and organizations recruiting at Auburn and develops opportunities to support recruiting best practices through professional development, enhanced engagement with the university, and honoring best practices in inclusive recruitment and hiring.
This position reports to and works closely with the Executive Director for CareerDiscovery and Success to develop and assess strategic goals. The Director will develop and implement a data informed, strategic approach to relationship development and management, thus increasing engagement of those seeking Auburn talent and driving the coordinated expansion of opportunities and recruitment activity across industry sectors for Auburn students. As a leader within the unit, the Director supervise, mentors, and develops a team of professionals that assist in coordinating campus-wide engagement, mentorship, and recruitment for part-time, experiential, and full-time opportunities. In addition to career fairs, Employer Days on the Plains, Mentor Meetups, Job Shadow and Trek opportunity development, and the Director will lead the Career Connections team to provide innovative and coordinate support to campus partners and stakeholder related to custom engagements, events, and programs. Regular or frequent travel in coordination with the employer relations, advancement and alumni affairs community is expected, along with evening and weekend engagements.
