    This is an exciting opportunity to assume leadership to shape the vision of The College of Business and Information Technology (CoBIT) at Lawrence Technological University. As the senior administrator and the College’s Chief Academic Officer, the Dean is an essential part of the University’s academic leadership team, working in collaboration with the Provost, other Deans, and administrative units. The Dean’s primary responsibilities are to advance the missions of the College and the University with an emphasis on research and scholarship in all its forms, to develop a vision for the College and implement the strategic initiatives necessary to achieve that vision, and to skillfully manage faculty and staff charged with the responsibility of implementing the College’s strategic plan by embracing a team environment.


    The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues across the University in a spirit of partnership, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. Drawing from a robust background in leadership, the Dean will be driven by an ability to build and manage enrollment in the College and to establish connections with professional organizations, business and industry and other constituencies in the community to extend the College’s outreach, increase its academic reputation, and provide opportunities for involvement with students and faculty.


    This position reports to the Provost.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




    • Advancing the College and the University Missions by providing leadership to the following activities:




      • Lead in the development and implementation of the College’s strategic plan, taking full advantage of the opportunities to strengthen internal relationships, collaborate with other University units, and engage alumni, industry, and the profession through projects connected to the community and outreach.




      • Maintain and strengthen the College’s AACSB accreditation.




      • Manage the College’s enrollment, advancing strategies for recruitment and retention of undergraduate and graduate students.




      • Coordinate the development of academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and raise the academic reputation of the College through the growth of funded scholarship in all its forms.




      • Lead the College’s fund development efforts to garner extramural grants and gifts from public and private entities and individuals to support the growth of scholarship and College initiatives.




      • Establish sound financial policies consistent with the university financial policies.




      • Develop strong, collaborative relationships with other Colleges and disciplines, foster inter-disciplinary scholarship at all levels, and develop local and international partnerships.




      • Develop strong, collaborative interactions with the College’s Advisory Board for guidance in academic programs and opportunities for support of scholarship, teaching, and learning.




      • Provide and facilitate the advancement and development of faculty and staff including enhancement of the quality of teaching and advising.




      • Lead faculty in continuously seeking ways to utilize technology and the principles of adult learning to develop engaging, high-quality coursework and instruction.




      • Represent the College and University effectively in educational, governmental, business and alumni and public forums.






    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES




    • Proven skills in vision, creativity, leadership, scholarship, sponsored research, enrollment management, programmatic quality, faculty development, fundraising, and community and alumni engagement




    • A demonstrated progressive history of accomplishment in an AACSB college of business or management, including accomplishments in the areas of programmatic quality, re-accreditation




    • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to faculty, students, and other employees of the organization as well as those external to the University 




    • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, analytical, management, negotiation (i.e. third-party contracts), and evaluation skills  




    • Basic database development and management skills, computer skills using word processing and spreadsheet software




    • Skills in qualitative and quantitative methods and tools for analysis, interpretation, and decision-making purposes (for example, metrics and measurements, cost/benefit analysis, financial statement analysis, budgeting, etc.) 




    • Superior planning and organizing skills 




    • Ability to comprehend and resolve complex interpersonal and organizational problems is essential 




    • Significant personnel management, curriculum development, fundraising, instructional, coaching/counseling/conflict resolution, and change management skills 




    • Ability to effectively represent the College and the University in educational, governmental, business, alumni, industry-wide, and public forums 




    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS




    • A doctoral or terminal degree in field of expertise




    • Demonstrated accomplishments that support appointment as a tenured associate or full professor in the College




    • A demonstrated record of research and scholarship




    • A track record of participation and leadership in professional and academic associations




    • Sufficient business experience to engage the business community as evidenced by success in partnering with business and industry




    • Detailed knowledge and experience with the AACSB accreditation process and doctoral programs




    • Current knowledge of emerging trends in graduate, online, and non-traditional education

    Located in the heart of a world-class STEM and design-focused campus, CoBIT creates innovative business professionals equipped with technological skills using an interdisciplinary approach emphasizing theory and practice. The College is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and is among the five percent of business schools worldwide accredited by the AACSB International. The College offers seven undergraduate degree programs in the areas of Information Technology and Business Administration as well as three graduate programs in Business Administration, Business Data Analytics and Information Technology. In addition, CoBIT offers combined bachelor and master programs, dual degrees and graduate certificate programs.
