    Job Description Summary


    The College of Human Sciences (CHS) at Auburn University invites applications for the position of Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, expected to begin no later than July 1, 2023. This administrator is expected to mentor faculty in producing quality scholarly work; recruit and mentor quality graduate students; identify funding opportunities from a range of potential sponsors; assist faculty in developing a record of successfully securing external sponsorship for scholarly work; develop and promote interdisciplinary partnerships yielding scholarly outcomes; manage the College research and graduate studies administrative office; be actively engaged in promoting an external research/scholarly program development for CHS at the national level; facilitate matters regarding federal compliance, research administration, and legislative opportunities and/or guidelines; manage conflict of interest, Intellectual Property (IP), and technology transfer issues; work to provide adequate research facilities for faculty; serve as research liaison between the College and the AAES, Office of the Vice-President for Research, and the Graduate School; and represent the Dean and the College to internal and external constituencies.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Qualifications for the position include: earned doctorate in an area of the human sciences or closely related field with a strong record of producing quality scholarly work which would support an appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure in the College of Human Sciences at the time appointment begins; demonstrated record of successfully securing external sponsorship for scholarly work; experience in methods to identify funding opportunities from a range of potential sponsors; communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to create an environment that promotes and rewards scholarly work; experience in developing and promoting interdisciplinary partnerships yielding scholarly outcomes; ability to manage an administrative office to facilitate scholarship and grantsmanship; actively engaged in promoting external research/scholarly program development at a national level; experience with budgets, research facilities management, and issues related to conflict of interest, IP and technology transfer; and facilitation of active research involvement in the AAES. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Candidate must have excellent communication skills.
