What You'll Do

This position is remote, but will require very infrequent (bi-annually or quarterly) trips onsite to campus. 


The Associate Director for Business Development will grow and recruit collaborative relationships with high-level organizations, in order to proactively shape and realize new business opportunities for the Fletcher School’s Office of Executive Education. 


Essential Functions:

  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with corporate, governmental, non-governmental and non-profit entities that offer pipelines for Executive Education programs, in coordination with Fletcher’s strategic plan
  • As part of Executive Education team, ensure the development and broadening of program offerings through a comprehensive business development strategy
  • Remain abreast of current trends in the global leadership and executive education sector, and how these translate into Executive Education’s stakeholder needs. Relay information to larger Exec Ed team in an effort to review and revise as necessary program offerings, delivery methodology and content to ensure maximum engagement
  • Regularly lead meetings with C-Level and senior executives of large global organizations to scope, shape, and secure new business
  • Manage stakeholder relations, including stewardship and follow-up communications; coordinate with internal stakeholders as needed
  • Develop a deep understanding of the resources and expertise of Fletcher Executive Education and how they can be integrated into client solutions
  • Contribute to process and business improvement projects by observing and evaluating existing processes, anticipating and supporting client and faculty needs, and continuously seeking to ensure efficiency
  • Contribute to the development of effective financial models and operational best practices to maximize efficiency, increase revenue, and establish Executive Education in a new market

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:


  • Knowledge and experience as typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and requires 10 years of program or project management experience.
  • Extraordinary communication and people skills. Demonstrated skills in high quality service delivery and relationship management. Knowledge or experience in business development and growth strategy, including market growth, financial operations, and branding.
  • Client-focused, with proven ability to develop trusting working relationships with colleagues and business partners with high expectations.
  • Adept at working with different stakeholders, including staff and faculty, and building relationships across a complex matrix organization
  • Ability to analyze and summarize data
  • Resourceful, flexible, and diplomatic
  • Strong sense of personal and team accountability
  • Proven track record of independently managing projects and processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities smoothly
  • Deep interest in leadership development, higher education and creative learning models
  • Team player with an eye for detail and skills to collaborate with multiple teams with shared accountability in fast-paced, high-energy, often ambiguous, environment
  • Familiarity with global networks in government, the private sector, and global affairs


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Well developed, demonstrated knowledge of international affairs and global challenges. Experienced in brand management and communications for large organizations.
