As the chief Administrative Officer of the museum, the Director reports directly to the Senior Vice President and Provost of the University, and is responsible for administering the operations and management of the Museum of Art and related activities. These include scholarly programs, the supervision of the art museum staff, exhibitions, exhibition schedule, educational materials, fund raising, budget management, and outreach efforts to the university and community. The Director will continue to build the reputation of the museum on a regional, national, and international level. We seek an energetic, dynamic leader, with a commitment to collaboration with faculty, students, staff and the OU community, and in fulfilling the mission of a University museum. Duties include: * Selecting of exciting and relevant exhibitions, maintaining curatorial oversight, and managing the exhibition schedule. * Developing and supervising innovative programs for education and university community relations, as well as audience development on a regional, national and international level. * Overseeing budget planning and account control, including the implementation of fund raising programs in accordance with University policies and with the assistance of the Fine Arts Director of Development. * Serving as a liaison for the museum and its constituents in the university community. * Supervising the care, maintenance, and security of museum facilities. * Directing collection management, including news acquisitions, conservation of the permanent collection, and scholarly research. * Determining and implementing museum policies, and managing all staff concerns, from selection, assignment, supervision, and termination. * Overseeing long range planning for the museum.
