This full-time professional position is responsible for:
Oversight – This position is responsible for oversight and management for the business process of Campus Living Facilities. This includes 84 university buildings, comprising 22% of the university’s square footage.
Direction – This position is responsible for developing and upholding policies and procedures which align with all applicable laws, codes, standards, and contracts.
Procurement – This position is responsible for an annual operating budget of $9 million. They exercise control of materials and services necessary to maintain Campus Living facilities.
Analysis & Action – This position works to continually improve the quality of customer service and the efficient use of resources. they are responsible for the development of action plans, supervision of implementation and measurement of results.
Human Capital – This position provides leadership to supervisory staff. They must manage with compliance with all federal, state, university, departmental and collective bargaining agreements. They have responsibility for the development and evaluation of required training.
Coordination & Communication – This position is expected to serve as a liaison between Campus Living and other departments on facilities related matters. Additionally, they are expected to maintain a high level of communication and collaboration will all internal and external constituents.
Campus Living, a unit with the Division of Student Life, serves to provide the best residential living experience for students at the University at Buffalo. Campus Living offers quality, affordable and desirable campus housing in support of the university’s mission. Campus living is comprised of 13 residential complexes and five apartment complexes accommodating 8,000 residents on the North and South Campuses comprising 2.5 million square feet. Bachelor’s Degree in management or related field. Three years of management and supervisory experience with a building services or maintenance department within a college/university, large hotel, or hospital is required. Demonstrable effective communication skills and an awareness and understanding of interpersonal and work life balance issues and their impact on the morale, productivity of employees is necessary.
Preferable work experience will include management of union represented employees.
Additionally, experience will focus on that of a building services or maintenance department at a large, public university. Six Sigma or other process improvement certification is beneficial
