As the direct descendant of NIU’s origin as the Northern Illinois State Normal School opened to prepare teachers, the College of Education continues that legacy as the state’s second largest producer of teachers. Position Summary

The Director of Education Partnerships and Learning Solutions in the College of Education is responsible for working with the Senior Director to develop and implement strategies to manage the promotion of College of Education programs and innovative partnerships to external audiences.

The Director will cultivate business-to-business partnerships directed at school districts and agencies; liaise with a variety of external constituencies and assist in the negotiation of contracts for credit and non-credit programs; identify and pursue innovative opportunities include training grants and contracts; collaborate with College of Education administrative personnel, including department chairs, advisors, and program coordinators, regarding programming and contracts; in collaboration with the College of Education Office of Student Success, the Graduate School and department graduate advisors, represent the College of Education at off-campus student recruitment fairs and partnership meetings and participate in College of Education graduate student recruitment strategy development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Student recruitment for contract programs


  • Build relationships with external partners including community colleges, educational service centers, regional offices of education, school districts, agencies, association, select business and industries, and universities.
  • Program support and program development.
  • Assist the Senior Director with operational needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)

    • Master’s degree in Educational Administration/Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Higher Education Administration, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Community College Leadership, Master of Arts in Teaching, Educational Technology, or other related services (School Psychology, School Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy).
    • Administrative experience of at least one (1) year in either school/school district or higher education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License, including one or more endorsements as a school administrator (General/Principal, Superintendent, Chief School Business Official, Director of Special Education).
  • At least one year of experience serving as a school or school district administrator in Illinois.
  • Doctoral degree in in Educational Administration/Educational Leadership.
  • Experience building relationships between organizations.
  • Experience with credit and non-credit program development at the graduate and undergraduate level.
  • Experience with graduate student recruitment.
