The Managing Assistant Director manages international studies and global initiatives for Kean University, including programs, processes and work operations; manages international student and exchange program/operations including Study Abroad and Travelearn; manages and maintains Academic Partnership Programs; advises international students with respect to visa regulations and other information; ensures University compliance with Federal regulations; and performs related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in an institution of higher education, business environment or a related field is required, preferably working with an international and/or study abroad student population. Working knowledge and understanding of the following is preferred: federal visa and immigration laws and regulations, including familiarity with F-1 and J-1 regulations and use of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Prior study/work abroad experience is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidate must have the ability to travel.
This employee serves as a Designated School Official as approved by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State and will be authorized to access SEVIS. U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status is required by Federal regulations.
