The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET), housed within the department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research in the College of Engineering, educates ~2,000 students each year through 15-20 courses related to tech innovation. SCET primarily educates engineering and science students and faculty with interdisciplinary educational coursework, outreach services, and relevant research in entrepreneurial processes. The current focus of the program is undergraduate students although it is anticipated that research and graduate education will be expanded. The Center is also well known for developing the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship.
This position will develop academic initiatives to integrate alumni engagement with SCET industry partners and student populations. It ensures the successful planning, development and implementation of educational programs, including a speaker series, Off the Record, focused on the entrepreneurship journey. This includes the cultivation of alumni relations, as well as the development of the Off the Record course into a platform for aspiring technology leaders and Berkeley entrepreneurs.
Researches and summarizes best practices in field. Develops proposals and recommendations to guide and support a broader strategic direction for the organization. Conducts post-implementation analysis to determine the need for further enhancements, finer distinctions and/or additional process/policy components.
This position will integrate best practices in alumni engagement communication and programming. Focus will be initially on academic and guest speaker opportunities and expand to integrate into all SCET programs.
The position will work closely with the Chief Learning Officer and Director of Operations to coordinate alumni engagement among all SCET academic and extracurricular programs. Responsible for developing, planning and implementing new academic and supporting programs to engage the SCET alumni community as it supports the overall direction and vision of the Center.
Creates and implements a. marketing plan that meets organizational goals and is targeted at stakeholders. Analyzes alumni, instructor and student feedback to better enhance alumni speaker engagement in academic and mentor capacities.
Coordinates efforts with a variety of external and internal contacts; researches organizational structures, policies and procedures and summarizes best practices in field. Provides analyses for complex budget, financial, academic, data, systems and resource projects working directly with all levels of managers. Establishes and maintains contacts internally and with external constituents for the collection and exchange of data.
Manages relationships with SCET alumni network. Manages cross-campus relationships with the goal to create clear and consistent messaging regarding tech innovation at Berkeley. Represents SCET in various capacities and maintains excellent rapport with all internal and external constituents.
Works with the Chief Faculty, Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Operations on development plans as it relates to engagement with alumni populations and guest speakers. Seeks sponsorships to fund alumni engagement focused seminar courses and events.
Performs ad hoc, analytical studies on a wide variety of policies, programs and issues which are complex in nature. Researches and drafts complex proposals, reports, briefings, executive summaries.
This position will coordinate with the Chief Marketing Officer to expand the alumni network and engagement opportunities. Analyzes academic and industry data related to our alumni network.
This is an eight-month contract at 25% time (10 hours) begining on May 1. 2020

- Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
