What You'll Do

In collaboration with manager, Academic Directors and key stakeholders, the Assistant Director participates in development of goals and strategies for degree programs in his/her portfolio. Supports students and connects them with resources across the School and University. Applies specialized, subject matter knowledge to develop, implement, review and evaluate the programming. Collaborates with colleagues in Admissions and Marketing to promote the programs. Manages partnerships connected to programs as needed.

 

The Assistant Director:

  • Oversees the comprehensive administration of the program working closely with colleagues in other student support areas (Admissions, Registrar, Student Affairs, OCS).
  • Implements plans and evaluates progress. Recommends changes as necessary. First point of contact of all inquiries, fields questions from internal (eg student/faculty) and external (partners) stakeholders.
  • Participates in budget processes, preparing reports and projections in conjunction with manager.
  • Develops and oversees internal communications, including newsletters and email communications. Writes and designs program materials. Produces material for website and develops/shares content for social media and marketing efforts.
  • Provides ideas and content for meetings, seminars, lectures and other special events. Ensures Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice is incorporated into all events. Manages all event logistics for small and large venues both in-person and virtual. Determines location, coordinates catering, leads event outreach. Identifies topics, activities, intended audience, speakers for events with Academic Director. Solicits ideas for variety of events from various stakeholders and coordinates with peers. Manages communications between speakers and Program.Measures event success through the creation and deployment of post-event audience/participant surveys and the production of after-event reports.
  • Coordinates hiring, training, and supervision of student workers as needed.
  • Supports student services associated with the program including admissions and registration processes and provides general advice about the program and resources available.
  • Creates and facilitates student programming initiatives in coordination with the program manager to help strengthen the student community, increase networking opportunities, and foster a sense of belonging. Working across multiple communications channels, leverages technology to inform students about courses, special course registration, exams, plans of study, course evaluations, and events.

 


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of program subject matter a plus.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
