About Cummings School Advancement Office:
The CAT is charged with managing a robust development and alumni engagement program raising financial support from alumni, parents, grateful clients, foundations, and corporations to advance the academic and programmatic priorities of the veterinary school. In addition to securing gifts through the Cummings Veterinary Fund the CAT works to secure large gifts for specific priorities set by the dean in consultation with the Senior Leadership Team that include endowed and term scholarships, professorships, building projects, program development, research, and other evolving needs. Appropriately steward our donors and engaging new constituents is essential for our program.

Cummings Schools is currently participating in Tufts University’s Brighter World Campaign, with a planned completion in 2023. To-date, Cummings has exceeded its fundraising goal, having raised $191 towards our campaign goal of $135M and Tufts University has raised over $1.3B in gifts and pledges.

What You'll Do

Primary Responsibilities:
• Supervise the annual fund, events and alumni engagement and giving team.
• Manage a portfolio of leadership and major donors and prospects
• Plan major donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with the goal of increasing donor engagement and support.
• Participate in the management of fundraising boards and committees, including the recruitment and management of volunteer leaders.
• Work with staff members to manage budgets, guarantee the high-quality stewardship of donors, ensure the proper processing and acknowledgment of gifts and pledges, and implement additional strategies to introduce new constituents to the school.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:
• Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of related experience.
• Extensive depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in philanthropy
• Experience managing and mentoring fundraising staff
• Advanced interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
• Proven track record of structuring proposals and securing major/leadership gifts


Preferred Competences and Qualifications:
• Knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles
• Proven track record of structuring proposals and securing major/leadership gifts
• Familiarity with gift planning vehicles
• Experience in donor management software
