Department Summary
University Centers and Events (UCE) encompasses the University Union, Gateway Center and Coliseum. University Centers and Events (UCE), provides quality programs, services, and facilities that enhance the educational experience and create a community for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. We assist students to become good citizens of a global community, prepared to function in a diverse world.

The University Union features 330,000 sq. ft. filled with campus services, dining options, meeting and event spaces, and programming, arts, and activities.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for managing events for the university including: recruiting new business, negotiating and managing event related contracts and agreements, fiscal management for events, executing all event logistics, ensures all university policies and state and federal regulations are followed. Has inputs into strategic/long-term planning and aligns operational plans with departmental strategy. This role works with a cross functional group of internal and external stakeholders to meet the goals of the department.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of University operations, policies and procedures, as well as state regulatory guidelines and mandates.
  • Some knowledge and skill related to computer software, applications, and programming, including: Adobe Creative Suite, Qualtrics, TracDat, Microsoft Office, EventsPro, Drupal, Basic Coding, or similar software etc.
  • Knowledge of fiscal management and ability to develop and manage event-related budgets.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
  • Ability to work on call during events including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high stress people-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

Supervision experience and skills.
Knowledgeable in the use of EMS Enterprise scheduling software.

  • Knowledgeable in the use of Meeting Matrix software.
    Knowledgeable with ticketing software.
    Knowledgeable in database management.
