Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of the Graduate Medical Education senior leadership team. The individual is responsible for overall management and oversight of financial resources and office operations including GME reimbursement from Medicare and governmental agencies. This hands-on leadership role requires an individual able to support both high-level complex accounting, finance and operations responsibilities, as well as not being afraid to dive into the details on a day-to-day basis. Previous human resources, payroll and benefits work experience is a definite plus. The CFO of GME Finance serves as the liaison on financial matters for reimbursement specialists at University affiliated hospitals, residency and fellowship directors and administrators, Clinical Department Chairs, and the Graduate Medical Education Committee. The CFO is in charge of managing cash flow, developing financial and tax strategies, analyzing accounts, forecasting financial trends for the GME Central Office and the University Medical/Dental Resident Services. The CFO also advises the Dean of the School of Medicine on GME finance issues. The CFO is supported by the GME Finance Analyst and the Reimbursement Administrator.

Salary: $105,575 – $118,345
Minimum Qualifications
Accounting or finance degree with 10+ years’ experience in financial management; knowledge of CMS GME reimbursement, excellent communication and negotiation skills; collaborative leadership style; ability to manage change. Candidates should have extensive experience in a leadership role with a proven ability to manage large-scale projects and oversee the long-term goals of a company. Previous human resources, payroll and benefits work experience a definite plus.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a similar field. A master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or similar discipline is a plus. Training requirements for this position are usually obtained through a combination of formal education and work experience. Candidates with an MBA in Finance or professional certifications, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), etc. are preferable to candidates without any advanced educational degree.

10 or more years of experience managing the financial department of a major company or handling a division of a large corporation is preferred. Candidates should possess a high level of written and oral communication skills that will be useful in connecting with the executive and senior management team. Candidates should demonstrate strong evidence of working in a financial leadership role, with a proven ability to manage large-scale projects and oversee the long-term goals of a company.
