The Office leads a number of programs and initiatives in support of DEIJ and Antiracism efforts that provide strategic vision and oversight for diversity and inclusion across the university. The foundational values that are core to the Tufts ethos include authenticity, civility, dignity, humility, open-mindedness, curiosity, excellence, social justice and a sense of belonging.
What You'll Do
This is an exciting time of change at Tufts University in this space. We recently announced the appointment of Tufts’ first Vice Provost for DEIJ, starting in Spring ’23.
The Associate Director for Diversity and Inclusion will report to the Director of DEI Programming and assist in supporting strategic leadership that contributes to the creation, stewardship, and implementation of evolving priorities for DEIJ at the University. This position will work on university wide DEIJ efforts.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to create, facilitate, and coordinate, diversity, equity, inclusion and justice initiatives
- Work to advance the initiative to make Tufts an Anti-Racist Institution
- Implement measurable accountabilities for all Tufts DEIJ initiatives
- Integrate inclusive pedagogy
- Support recruitment and retention strategies for faculty and staff
- Liaise with stakeholder groups and advisors
The duties of this position will likely evolve as the department structure is subject to change, as we welcome our newly appointed leader.
