Dean for Workforce Programs

Chesapeake College, a small regional community college located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is accepting applications for Dean for Workforce Programs. Founded in 1965, the College is governed by a 10-member Board of Trustees and serves the five counties on Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore. As the first regional, public community college in Maryland, Chesapeake College operates with a regional governance structure that is unique in the state. The college is close to wildlife preserves and the beaches of Delaware and Maryland, while easily accessible to Annapolis, Washington DC and Baltimore.

Responsibilities: The Dean for Workforce Programs provides leadership for workforce and continuing education related instructional departments and programs of the College.  The Dean supports the implementation of the College’s mission within the Division, fosters curricular, programmatic, and intellectual vision, and is responsible for the quality and integrity of these programs.  The Dean reports to the Vice President for Workforce and Academic Programs.
Requirements: Masters in a relevant discipline, a doctorate is preferred; three to five (3-5) years teaching experience; three to five (3-5) years academic administration experience, or leadership role including supervision; demonstrated academic program development, experience with sound assessment practices; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a commitment to the use of appropriate technology to support student learning.  Ability to function effectively in college -wide leadership groups, including College Council and on the Vice President’s executive team. Ability to work effectively with other college constituencies.
