Nevada State was established in 2002 as a new tier in the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) between the research universities and the two-year colleges. Nevada State, classified as a "baccalaureate college: diverse fields" by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, is a comprehensive college that offers baccalaureate degrees with more than 45 majors and minors in the School of Education, the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the School of Nursing. One of the fastest growing colleges in the country (5,500 degree seeking students with a total 7,200 enrolled), Nevada State is a comprehensive four-year Minority Serving public institution with a statewide mission.
