Position Summary

The Senior Director of Finance and Administration works under the strategic leadership of the Associate Vice President of Business Operations to provide oversight of resource management and reporting functions within the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. This position will be responsible for administering the budget and financial plan for the Jacobs School, a large unit with 26 Departments, 16 academic and support services offices and 17 affiliated clinical practice plans.

As a Senior Director of Finance and Administration, you will:
    • Administer the budget, financial plan, and supporting information systems and records in an accurate and timely manner for the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
    • Under the leadership of the AVP for business operations, develop budget projections for the clinical and basic science departments, academic and support services offices and other programs and initiatives.
    • Oversee the tracking and management of fiscal commitments, including execution of related funding mechanics.
    • Support, coordinate, and direct financial component of various human resources initiatives such as faculty startup, promoted faculty compensation, and contractual salary increase changes.
    • Lead fee development, assessment, record keeping, education, waiver, and execution processes for the Jacobs School.
    • Provide training to departments and academic and support services offices on budget development, strategy, monitoring, adjustments, and other related topics to ensure compliance with university and SUNY policies and state and federal regulations.
    • Review policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, adherence to policy and regulatory requirements, periodically update, and engage in schoolwide communication in this regard.
    • Supervise Resource Management office staff, ensuring proper training, professional development, and workload distribution.
    • Under the direction of the AVP for business operations, ensure adherence to, and promotion of, high standards of ethical conduct, compliance with all applicable policies and regulations, and appropriate financial oversight.
    • Provide guidance and input on departmental, academic and support services offices structures and restructures as well as workforce planning.
    • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the Director of HR to develop solutions, programs, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or master’s degree or professional certification with 3 years of experience
