Department Summary
The Research Development unit within the Division of Research & Innovation (DRI), is responsible for strategic, proactive, catalytic, and capacity-building activities designed to facilitate individual faculty members, teams of researchers, and central research administration in attracting extramural research funding, creating relationships, and developing and implementing strategies that increase institutional competitiveness. The research development mission aligns with the strategic plan of DRI to provide education and resources to UNT researchers so that they can seek and secure external grant funding, build interdisciplinary research teams, and liaise between different units on campus to build competitive research proposals.

Position Overview
This position is responsible for coordinating and administering university-wide grant seeking and proposal development; including oversight and collaboration of the in-college Proposal Managers. The position supports the research mission of UNT by assisting university faculty members in their efforts to identify potential sponsored project funding opportunities, and to provide strategic editing support on grant proposals to increase the likelihood of high quality submissions. In addition, this position collaborates with other offices and stakeholders to train, facilitate, and increase chances of collaborative research through avenues such as: events, workshops, forums, and meetings. This position also oversees the limited submission process.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Higher Education, or other related field and four years of professional business administration, grant and contract administration, or related work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Knowledge of federal agency grant/contract opportunities and regulations.
  • Superior writing, speaking and general communications skills.
  • Ability to synthesize many kinds of information effectively in pursuit of objectives.
  • Knowledge of and facility in using electronic data storage and communications systems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of safety, security and confidentiality precautions appropriate to work performed.
