Associate Registrar – Strategic Initiatives

General Summary
The Associate Registrar, reporting to the University Registrar, provides leadership, support and management of strategic projects and initiatives in the Registrar’s Office; shares responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, privacy and security of all academic records. The Associate Registrar for Strategic Initiatives supervises projects and office communication to ensure best practices and improve delivery of service while providing outstanding customer service.  The Associate Registrar ensures compliance with all published university, state and federal policies.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the University Registrar to evaluate and implement operational and technology projects to improve department performance and services
  • Oversee testing of Workday functionality for new releases and support cases for the Registrar’s office
  • Coordinate cross-functional testing with other functional groups
  • Supervision and maintenance of student records documentation and training materials
  • Managing and coordinating training sessions for various campus constituents
  • Communications manager to the Stevens community about relevant Workday changes and manager of Workday student engagements
  • Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with school/department and other campus constituents to facilitate improvement projects
  • Liaison to academic officials concerning University policy/procedures and compliance using state, federal and best practice guidelines
  • Serve as one of the leads to the Assistant Registrars and staff
  • Analyzing academic and system data for efficiency
  • Supervise the certification of Veterans’ benefits and management of associated policies and documents
  • Management of students records in accordance with university, state and federal policies
  • Management of content on website, intranet and social media
  • Assist in resolving system and customer service issues pertaining to student records and registration
  • Administer Registrar activities related to Title IV
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Eight – ten years’ experience working in a Registrar’s Office
  • Previous Registrar’s Office supervisory experience required
  • Extensive experience with a student information system and system configuration required
  • Prior experience with the implementation of ERP student information systems is required
  • Working knowledge of record retention policies; data privacy policies and procedures (FERPA); generally accepted AACRAO guidelines, federal, state and regulatory requirements; academic policies and procedures

Skills and Abilities
Strong computer software skills, including experience with a student information system; ability to work independently on multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy; ability to work as an effective member of a team and team supervisor; ability to manage, direct and supervise staff; strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills; extreme attention to detail.
