Leads the Information Strategy, and Analytics team, ensuring prioritization of projects and achievement of goals and deliverables.

  • Serves as a member of the Development and Alumni Relations Management Team and provides strategic leadership around Advancement information system use and function, including database integrity, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Coordinates daily operations and provides guidance to professionals on performance standards and business intelligence functions. Trains staff and assigns work
  • Communicates regularly with management on human resource issues. Makes recommendations on hiring, reclassification, salary increases and corrective action. Conducts performance evaluations.
  • Develops project roadmap for the Information Strategy and Analytics team, assigns projects to staff, and communicates timelines and prioritization to stakeholders. Assesses new initiatives and coordinates within the larger plans.
  • Leads meetings of the Information Strategy and Analytics team and bi-annual team retreats.

Consults with department leaders and process owners to gather and clarify data and reporting requirements for highly-complex business intelligence solutions and analytics.

  • Meets with key stakeholders to determine reporting and data needs to inform campaign planning, fundraising, and alumni relations.
  • Develops project plans for reporting and analysis around key fundraising and alumni relations initiatives. Assigns work and oversees progress.
  • Works closely with Development and Alumni Relations staff to identify workflows and makes recommendations for new reporting and tools to improve outcomes.

Applies advanced skills to produce in-depth forecasts, complex reports, data sets, and recommendations to support and enhance fundraising and alumni relations processes. Works on large projects with many data streams.

  • Provides guidance to staff on activities such as reporting, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics, data mining, benchmarking, text mining, data entry and data migration.

Conducts industry benchmarking analysis to identify best practices and fundraising performance or capability gaps. Develops and presents quantitative business cases to managers and senior leaders.

  • Assesses a wide array of tools and technologies to improve fundraising and alumni relations and determines where to make strategic investments.
  • Oversees the implementation and access of new tools for prospect identification and management, constituent insights, alumni communication and outreach.
  • Works closely with Development and Alumni Relations staff to identify workflows and makes recommendations for new reporting and tools to improve outcomes.

Analyzes and troubleshoots highly-complex data errors and problems, designing, testing, and applying advanced functional solutions.

  • Reviews analytical reports and team work product for logic and accuracy.

Evaluates data sources for relevance, integrity and accuracy. Identifies issues and collaborates on solutions to data management challenges.

  • Collaborates with technical teams identifying opportunities to leverage technology to facilitate information delivery and expand business capability.
  • Monitors data sources, identifies issues and coordinates solutions to data collection/management challenges.
  • Aligns data and systems with business needs for all areas within Development and Alumni Relations. Establishes priorities and provides direction to the Information Strategy and Analytics team in the design, implementation and documentation of new and evolving data systems.

Leads committees and participates on cross-functional teams to solve complex business, process, service and/or systems issues.

  • Anticipates the expanding and sophisticated information needs of Development and Alumni Relations and partners with University Advancement Operations on software, systems, and database management to build a strategic framework of tools and systems
  • Leads quarterly meetings with Haas Technology Services and University Advancement Operations to optimize data collection and data flows.

Required Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of business intelligence functions, advanced analytics, industry standards and best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in internal databases, BI applications, tools, and systems.
  • Required knowledge of Tableau.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage highly-complex information, assess problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Can produce and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with managers, professional and technical staff.
  • Knowledge to serve as an advanced technical leader providing advice, counsel, and analysis on business intelligence issues.
  • Has skills to lead diverse and inclusive teams
  • Knowledge to supervise professional staff, assign work and manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of human resources practices and policies. Ability to monitor, address and document personnel and performance issues.
  • Knowledge of Development and Alumni Relations systems, tools, and protocols.

Salary & Benefits

This is a 100% time (40-hrs a week), monthly paid, exempt position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $146,800.00.
