Overview
The Office of Graduate Admissions supports the enrollment objectives of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering at Tufts University. Graduate Admissions supports the Deans of each school, and members of the faculty, on the coordination of all aspects of graduate student recruitment, application processing, and marketing and communications. Graduate Admissions processes more than 5,000 applications annually to 30+ departments across 70+ programs for fall and spring semester entry to Tufts University
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions, the Assistant Director plays a critical role in the operations of Graduate Admissions and serves as the primary recruiter for the School of Engineering and/or the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. Primary responsibilities include learning about and representing departments and certificate programs to prospective applicants in in-person and virtual formats on- and off-campus, assisting the Director with data analysis and implementation of strategic recruitment and enrollment initiatives, communicating with graduate faculty and relevant staff members across the university, and supporting the processing of applications to the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences or the School of Engineering. In addition, the Assistant Director will liaise with the Information Technology team responsible for managing Slate software, and contributing to the office’s technical processes. This position requires some travel.
- Represent Tufts University during graduate fairs, Open Houses, and other recruitment events, in virtual and in-person formats, on-campus and nationally.
- Collaborates and educates other members of the Graduate Admissions team to ensure the prospective student's experience is timely and accurate. This includes updating marketing communication, event management, email communication, and maintaining relevant processes in Slate.
- Actively initiate the recruitment and enrollment of prospective graduate students to Tufts University and, yearly, assess the effectiveness of recruitment events and strategy.
- Contribute to the department’s technical and analytical processes, serving as a point of contact with the Information Technology Team. Contribute to tracking data, including the development of annual reports and analysis of application demographics, programmatic data comparisons, and additional data at the Director’s request.
- Monitor enrollment objectives and goals and develop recruitment and enrollment strategies to meet these targets.
- Conduct in-person and virtual information sessions and tours for prospective students during on- and off-campus events. Present information about Tufts University, graduate programs, and certificates, and admissions process in formal public-speaking events on-campus, virtually, and from off-campus locations, and in written communications.
- Other projects, tasks, and duties as assigned.
This is a hybrid position.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2+ years of directly related professional experience in admissions, recruitment, and education fields
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software Suite
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to multitask, assess priorities, and work as a member of a team
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a collaborative orientation
- Outstanding written and public speaking communication skills
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Slate Technolutions software
- Experience working with graduate students
Pay Range
Minimum $52,600.00, Midpoint $65,750.00, Maximum $78,900.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
