Summary The Colleges of Agriculture and Forestry, Wildlife and Environment at Auburn University are seeking applications for the position of Director and Professor of Practice for Equity and Inclusive Excellence. Reporting directly to the Deans of the College of Agriculture (60%) and the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment (40%), the Director and Professor of Practice for Equity and Inclusive Excellence supports the implementation and adaptation of diversity, equity, and inclusion policy, practices, and procedures within the College of Agriculture and the College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment. With the assistance of the Office of Inclusion and Diversity (OID), the Director will leverage their direct experience and expertise within the colleges to identify equity gaps and build out a comprehensive, college-specific DEI strategy. The Director is responsible for the design, delivery, and assessment of a comprehensive, evidence-based, college-specific DEI strategy in support of the ongoing progress of institutional DEI and inclusive excellence goals. The Director will align the colleges’ priorities with the University’s strategic vision for undergraduate and graduate student, faculty, and staff development of critical DEI awareness, behaviors, skills, and competencies that facilitate personal and professional growth and development. This is a full-time, twelve-month non-tenure track faculty position. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.

Responsibilities: This position will have responsibilities in the following categories:
Student Success and Engagement
· Create a supportive culture for multi-cultural, diverse, and first-generation college students within the College of Agriculture and the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment.

· Support underrepresented and minority undergraduate and graduate recruiting and retention efforts.
· Develop and deliver professional development programming to help foster and enhance a culture of diversity and inclusion amongst students. Identify equity gaps in college/school-level co-curricular activities.
· Actively participate and support the Auburn University Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS).
· Monitor academic progress, engagement, and retention of underrepresented and minority undergraduate and graduate students.
· Regularly review policies and procedures that can serve as a barrier to on-time degree completion.
· Examine college level services and ensure service providers receive proper training and guidance on supporting underrepresented and minority students.
· Support alumni engagement efforts in promoting DEI.

Data, Metrics and Assessment
· Support faculty and staff recruitment and retention.
· Remain in close contact with the colleges’ HR liaisons.
· Provide annual reports on the progress of the college Diversity Action Plan.

Strategic Initiatives and Reporting
· Provide leadership to the strategic planning, reporting, and evaluation processes related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the colleges.
· Meet regularly with colleges’ leadership on challenges, opportunities, goals, and updates related to diversity, equity, and inclusion at Auburn and within the colleges.
· Develop and deliver professional development programming to help foster and enhance a culture of diversity and inclusion amongst faculty and staff.
· Ensure NIFA’s civil rights requirements are met within the colleges including civil rights oversight responsibilities associated with USDA Hatch funds.

· Develop and deliver at least one undergraduate/graduate course focusing on DEI issues and initiatives in Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Campus Collaboration and Internal/External Partnerships
· Contribute to OID’s comprehensive DEI portfolio by serving as a member of the Diversity Leaders’ Roundtable and supporting institution-wide DEI efforts including, but not limited to, awards, grants, climate assessments, diversity education, faculty engagement, and annual diversity reporting.
· Provide support to diversity, equity, and inclusion projects within their respective college such as grant applications, search committee processes (including recruitment planning, meeting with candidates, etc.), data requests, and other related activities.
· Participate in professional development opportunities to expand expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in agriculture, natural resources, higher education, or a similar
field at the time employment begins
- 3 years of experience creating and managing comprehensive DEI programming and education in
higher education.
- At least one year of experience directly related to the development and implementation of
diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Knowledge of the scholarship and research of DEI, inclusive excellence, and equity
- Ability to assess student academic success, DEI, and inclusive excellence programs in higher
- Ability to effectively work with, train, and facilitate programming with undergraduate and
graduate students, faculty, and staff
- Experience with utilizing a range of online tools used to support education and professional
development; and
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in

Desired Qualifications
Ph.D. agriculture, natural resources, higher education, or a similar field.
