The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 275 staff members and coaches and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 850 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). We are currently seeking an Associate Director of Strategic and Executive Operations who will work within the department's Cameron Institute unit.

The Associate Director of Executive Operations is primarily responsible for overseeing day to day operations, and managing projects and systems within the Cameron Institute for Student-Athlete Development. Day-to-day operations include oversight of the Cameron Institute website and social media accounts, web-based systems (e.g. advising platform), scheduling events, support with Cameron Institute hiring, purchasing processes and procedures, and managing various contractual agreements. The Associate Director role encompasses administrative support to assist Cameron Institute leadership, managing both proactive and responsive communications and scheduling.
This role works directly with the Directors of the Cameron Institute to provide support for services, events, and initiatives within each pillar. This includes the Leadership Showcase, New Student-Athlete Orientation, Big C Welcome Back BBQ, Fall & Spring lunches, training opportunities for student-athletes, and other career and community events. Support includes the designing and development of content and materials for presentations, workshops, and classroom sessions, and setup at various events.
The Associate Director will contribute to the Cameron Institute's advising model by supporting a case load of student-athletes using The California Way
framework and Cameron Institute services. The Associate Director will meet with student-athletes on a regular basis to manage, check-in, and update their development plans as necessary. The Associate Director will also contribute to the recruiting process and engage in best practices under the Cameron Institute's vision. The person will work directly with Cameron Institute personnel to align and execute on training and advising best practices. This may include annual trainings and continuing education on advising practices.

- Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
- Strong knowledge of common higher education computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
- Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization.
- Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
- Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
- Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including self-awareness, leadership, and emotional intelligence.
- Exceptional organizational skills, project management skills, and time management skills.
- Prior higher education, preferably in an Athletic Department.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present in small and large group settings.
- Knowledge of UC Berkeley policies, processes, and procedures and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in teams while also operating independently.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience overseeing and supporting day-to-day office operations (such as; social media platforms, website, events, office management).
- Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of common campus-specific and other computer application programs. Analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff; both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Engagement in organizations such as the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Leadership Development training (e.g., Effective Facilitation Workshop, Leadership Academy Workshop).
- Advanced degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience advising/counseling students (athletes preferred) to reach their full potential.
