Overview

Post-Award provides financial oversight of all sponsored award activities from set up to closeout, and is part of of the Finance Division, Office of the Controller.


What You'll Do

The Associate Director, Post Award Research Administration manages a team of specialists to provide post award financial management for faculty and local research administrators.  Identifies team goals and priorities for continuous proactive management of sponsored portfolios in accordance with government regulations, donor requirements and university policy.  Handles complex cases/situations and serves as a signing official.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Through a post award specialist team, manages fiscal post award functions of diverse/complex grants and contracts including award intake, set-up, budget management and award maintenance.  Manages accounting system updates, expenditure review and approval, financial reporting, cash management, invoicing and closeouts and ensures compliance with university, federal and sponsor regulations.
  • Manages process and audits flow of funds from awarding agencies; prepares reports and recommendations for management.
  • Serves as signing official on post award financial documentation, conducts final review and approval of annual and final fiscal reports or vouchers requesting payment under sponsored projects.
  • May review labor distribution analyses and audits; prepares and presents reports and recommendations to management.
  • May manage closeout process of sponsored projects for all teams and overall compliance with final deliverables.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with university research community and within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research division to facilitate seamless management of sponsored programs. Provides advice and expertise to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures.  Develops and delivers onboarding and training sessions and mentors local research administrators.
  • Manages special projects for post award administration and represents unit on university committees.  Analyzes research administration processes, evaluates and recommends post award policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Manages a team of post award specialists including hiring, providing training and development opportunities and evaluating performance.  Identifies team goals and priorities for continuous proactive management of sponsored portfolios.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as acquired by a Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of related experience 
  • Strong technical grant accounting skills and experience
  • Demonstrated management skills and experience
  • Proven project management skills and experience
  • Strong proficiency with enterprise financial systems and MS Office applications


Pay Range

Minimum $102,400.00, Midpoint $128,050.00, Maximum $153,700.00
 
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
