Overview
The Director of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity will provide leadership, vision and oversight for all aspects of the affirmative action and equity compliance program, compliance education, training and outreach function, compliance enforcements, and university mandates related to diversity, equity and inclusion methods and modules.
Position Summary
The Director collaborates with HRS Director colleagues, the CHRO, the Senior Vice President/Chief Diversity Officer (SVP/CDO) and other university partners to develop and maintain a strategic approach that embodies the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity develops and oversees programs and service-delivery strategies that contribute to a comprehensive vision for HR and aligns with the university’s vision, mission, and values. This position is responsible for overseeing and guiding programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, and university guidelines and requirements.
Training and Development (included in all functional areas)
The Director oversees comprehensive compliance training programs, including but not limited to, employment discrimination, harassment, faculty/staff search process and procedures, position description creation, equal opportunity, and implicit bias.
Supervision and Leadership (included in all functional areas)
The Director supervises all members of Affirmative Action Equal Opportunity. Supervises and evaluates the performance and provides professional staff development.
Systems Improvements, Data Analytics, and Benchmarking (included in all functional areas)
The Director works collaboratively and partners with the HRIS team regarding system to improvements, data analytics, and benchmarking. Conducts Affirmative Action Plan analysis, adverse impact analysis, and compensation analysis to ensure fair reward processes and to aid the CHRO in making transparent benefit and compensation decisions.
Operational Process (included in functional areas)
Operational processes are also the responsibility of this role, including but not limited to, budget development and coordination, internal operating procedure, and contract negotiations. Assist CHRO with the identification and resolution of problem areas within the University. Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the CHRO. Meets monthly with the CHRO, HRS team and other administrators as assigned. Other duties as assigned by the CHRO.
