Reporting directly to the Worldwide Campus Chancellor, this position will be tasked with the advancement of the Student Affairs Department. The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Campus serves over 23,000 students in 135+ campus locations worldwide and through online instruction. The Dean of Students will provide vision and oversight for a comprehensive and integrated approach to the engagement and inclusion of students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide Campus. This position will be a highly visible and accessible campus leader who is very interactive and values establishing and maintaining relationships with students, faculty, and staff to help students grow and succeed. The Dean of Students will be the primary problem-solver for issues involving students, working closely with faculty, department chairs, advisors, legal counsel, and Title IX on a weekly basis. The Dean of Students will provide leadership, strategic direction and accountability for the administration, development, assessment and improvement of students’ services and experiences in alignment with the university and campus mission and strategic plans. This position will foster effective collaborative partnerships with faculty, academic departments, and senior leadership to provide a seamless holistic learning environment that supports multi-modality learning through online and face to face instruction. The Dean of Students will collaborate with others to create pathways that advance diversity of all kinds, and continually build an inclusive community that promotes learning and well-being for all students. This position will oversee activities, personnel and budgets of departments/program areas that provide direct services to students and works in support of the overall Student Affairs department. The position works under the direction of the Chancellor for the Worldwide Campus to set goals, determine support needs and provide oversight for the execution of these plans.
Ph.D. or other doctorate level equivalent
Minimum of ten years’ experience with at least five years in a leadership role in Student Affairs, including management responsibilities.
Experience managing students in an online environment.
Experience working with non-traditional students.

Working knowledge of compliance issues as they relate to higher education and student affairs.

Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Knowledge of student development, adult learning, theories related to post-secondary education.
Knowledge of student affairs/services programs and operations.
Strong technology skills, including a comfort with MS Office, Skype for Business, Canvas, Maxient and Terra Dotta software.
Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate employees.
Ability to supervise budgets and program areas.
Ability to analyze data that is relevant to the work of the Student Affairs Department and identify statistical trends.
