Student Financial Services oversees financial aid, student employment, student loans and billing for all undergraduate students and for graduate students in Arts & Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the Fletcher School.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Dean of Admissions & Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid manages the Student Financial Services department on the Medford campus, and is responsible for the budgeting, awarding, compliance, and reporting of over $150 million in federal, state, and institutional funds on the Medford campus.  In addition, the Director has university-wide responsibilities for completing federal reporting requirements, university-wide financial aid compliance and the annual audit, managing the federal work study program for all campuses, and overseeing the financial aid software used by the Medford aid office as well as three health science financial aid offices.   


The Director of Financial Aid’s success will depend upon their expert knowledge of the financial aid landscape and policies for undergraduate and graduate students, their compassionate and student-centered approach to their work, their support and mentorship of a talented financial aid staff, and their ability to collaborate with colleagues across the Student Services division and across the university. The Director works closely with the Associate Dean of Student Services in support of the administrative functions of the student experience, with the Bursar on billing and collections, with Advancement on endowed gifts and fundraising initiatives, and with financial aid staffs across the university on federal policies or systems that impact all schools.  A commitment to diversity and inclusion, a strong sense of empathy and compassion, a genuine interest in collaborating with colleagues, and a student-centered approach to financial services is essential.  This is a hybrid position, the employee will be expected to work some days in person and, if desired, some days from home during most weeks.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial aid
  • Skilled experience with financial aid systems, preferably PowerFaids
  • Ability to use all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Staff management experience
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree, preferably in Higher Education Administration or related field.
  • 8+ years’ experience in financial aid
  • Experience with Undergraduate and Graduate financial aid
  • Student services experience.
