Louisiana State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Chancellor of Louisiana State University Eunice. The Chancellor is the chief executive officer of the University and exercises complete executive authority therein, subject to the direction of the Board of Supervisors through the LSU President, Dr. F. King Alexander. As the administrative head of the LSU Eunice campus, the Chancellor will implement educational and administrative policies for the campus within the framework of the functions and programs of the campus.

About the Institution:
Louisiana State University Eunice (LSUE) is located on a well-maintained and attractive 200-acre campus in Acadia Parish. LSUE is a comprehensive, open admissions institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificates and continuing education programs as well as transfer curricula. LSUE encompasses a population of approximately 3,200 students and 230 faculty and staff. LSUE is considered one of the best comprehensive community colleges in the state. In addition, tuition at LSU Eunice is amongst the lowest in the state. LSUE offers programs that are fully accredited and widely respected in Louisiana. Courses are easily transferable, with transfer agreements for general education courses with all public universities in the state and transfer programs in numerous areas. LSUE is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees.

About the Community:
Located in central, southwest Louisiana in Cajun Country, 45 minutes northwest of Lafayette and three hours west of New Orleans, the city of Eunice straddles both St. Landry and Acadia Parishes. Eunice is home to the Jean Lafitte National Park and the nationally broadcast Rendez-Vous des Cajun Radio Show at the Liberty Center for the Performing Arts. For more than three centuries, the parishes of St. Landry and Acadia boast une différence, mixed and matched influences from French, Spanish, German, African, Irish, Native American, European, and Acadian, which has produced the rich and colorful experience found today. Acadia Parish is rich in agriculture, historic architecture and colorful festivals. While St. Landry Parish is a gateway to the Atchafalaya Basin, and part of the Bayou Teche Corridor – within the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area. Every day you can enjoy rich traditions of history and culture by dancing to the exciting sounds of Cajun and Zydeco music while tasting the famous cuisine loved all over the world. In addition to the great Cajun and Creole food, the area hosts many festivals to celebrate their culinary treats like cracklins and étouffée. The area also has an abundance of outdoor activities available such as fishing, horse riding, sailing, and camping.

Position Qualifications:
The LSU Eunice Chancellor Search Committee seeks a leader who:

  • will provide strong campus leadership while being a strong advocate for the University and for public higher education in the state;
  • enjoys being part of a close campus community and is accessible to and interacts
    with faculty, staff, and students;
  • has the personal commitment and interpersonal skills to become part of the leadership of a proud, diverse, and culturally intriguing region of the state;
  • provide entrepreneurial vision in the creation of new online course delivery;
  • can relate well to local community and business leaders in order to enlist their support in expanding the University and broadening its contributions to the area;
  • is an effective and strategic administrator of resources;
  • welcomes participation in the recruitment and retention of students in a region and state that fall below the average in college attendance and graduation rates; and
  • possesses the enthusiasm, drive, and collaborative talents to work with the campus community and the LSU leadership to increase the University’s reputation and visibility.

Qualified candidates will preferably possess an earned terminal degree from a regionally accredited university and have a proven record of higher education experience in both classroom teaching as well as upper-administrative work. Significant experience in fundraising, enrollment, strategic planning and financial management is highly desirable.
