Job Summary
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at Auburn University is seeking applicants for the Associate Director for IT Infrastructure position. This position will provide management, leadership and direction for infrastructure, virtualization, and enterprise storage systems, including design, implementation, support, and operations. This position will report to the OIT Director of Infrastructure, Virtualization and HPC. Areas in this directorate include Virtualization and Storage (IVS), Microsoft Server Support (MSS), Digital Workspaces/VDI (DWS), High Performance Computing (HPC) and OIT operations.

The Associate Director will interact with all infrastructure units and assist the director with OIT initiatives related to governance, research, and administration; often working with faculty, student and IT groups to analyze and support the existing infrastructure and to develop and advise on infrastructure strategies.

Essential Functions
Provide leadership, support and management of the computing and storage systems that support the core technology infrastructure of the University.
Work with Infrastructure unit managers and to assist with projects that support OIT’s mission; May supervise managers and system administrators.
Strong organizational skills and problem solving.
Ability to gather and analyze statistical data, generate reports, and to develop and deliver presentations.
Maintain effective relationships with clients and assist with communications between users and staff when needed.
Assist Infrastructure Director on special projects and broad based initiatives. Represent the department in the director’s absence or as otherwise required. Participate in policy, financial and contract discussions and decisions.
Partner with OIT Architects, OIT Directors, Information Security and Distributed IT Directors, to assist with projects and strategies.
Assist with operational goals and objectives; provide advice and recommendations to senior IT leadership.
Assist in the creating, testing, and auditing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Assure the alignment of OIT’s computing, virtualization and storage infrastructure with information security best practices and University policies and standards.
Other duties as assigned in support of OIT and the University mission.
