Responsibilities

Events and Operations:

  • Develop strategic initiatives and ideas to enhance the student experience, both inside and outside of the classroom including networking and social events, speaker series and class officer coordination.
  • Plan and develop Golden Bear Orientation, Welcome Activities and serve as the lead coordinator for the annual Haas Undergraduate Commencement.
  • Plan and coordinate workshops, field trips, and guest speakers that support the curricular goals of the program.
  • Assist with international and domestic student trips, as needed.
  • Create and implement new and exciting extracurricular activities to enhance the student experience.
  • Serve as staff lead for all undergraduate events and liaise with the Haas Events Management Team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships including contract negotiations with vendors for student experience events, including food & beverage, hotels, etc.
  • Continually evaluate quality and cost effectiveness of vendors and recommend changes to the UG Program Leadership Team.
  • Manage the UG Program Budget, making recommendations to the UG Program Leadership Team.
  • Coordinates and implements Program sponsored events. Plans and coordinates large and external events such as the annual Goldman Sachs Case Competition and Women's Empowerment Day, or other general program events.
  • Manages purchase order processing and related vendor activities.


Student Services Advising:

  • Serve as advisor and mentor to student leadership officers in their professional development. Actively engage with students and participate in student activities.
  • Liaise with school and campus departments and service providers including Career Services, Facilities, Computing, Media Services, Alumni Relations, Marketing, Library, Registrar's Office, UC Health Services, Parking, and others.


Within the academic department, provide student services in the following areas:

  • Supports the internal and international case competition program, which includes serving as a contact to students, international partners, handling all travel logistics, and implementation and related activities.
  • Manages the travel and entertainment reimbursement process and risk management protocols.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, UG program staff, and other campus offices regarding program requirements and requests for assistance.
  • Communicate regularly with students and faculty regarding program updates, events, scheduling, and other matters of importance.
  • Oversee key operational aspects of the program, working closely with the Assistant Dean, Director of Academic and Student Affairs, the Director of Admissions and the Associate Director of Student Services.


Scholarships and Awards:

  • Determines eligibility for distribution of scholarships and awards in coordination with the Haas Financial Team, DAR and campus financial aid, as appropriate.
  • Distributes scholarship and award letters to students.
  • Runs queries and keeps data and records of scholarships, awards and recipients.


Academic Advising:

  • Provides advice and assistance to students on academic and degree progress and major requirements; assists students in academic planning, alternative academic options and similar issues. Triage for case management. Refer to other unit functions or departments as appropriate.
  • Recruitment and Admissions: Advises prospective applicants on necessary academic preparation; appropriateness of program as it pertains to the prospective applicant's goals.


Applies professional Student Services concepts in providing a variety of student services to the undergraduate student population served by the Haas School of Business, and to faculty and management.

Professional Learning and Growth

  • Embraces the principle of being a "student always" by engaging in opportunities for training, workshops, seminars, continuing education pertinent to the position, or at the suggestion of the supervisor.
  • Actively contributes to a team environment that fosters and promotes a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within the unit and at Haas.
  • Engages in ongoing education to promote diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging by completing University sponsored certifications & training sessions (Ie: MEP Workshop, Implicit Bias Certification, LinkedIn Learning workshops, and other workshops & seminars offered by the University or Haas, as they are made available) or by engaging in external seminars & resources related to DEIB.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Competency using Google/Microsoft office applications
  • Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Basic knowledge of student immigration and visa processes pertaining to international students and scholars.
  • Ability in problem identification and reasoning.
  • Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of University rules and regulations.


Salary & Benefits

This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) non-exempt (hourly paid) career position.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.



The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $31.13 to $34.87.
