This position is responsible for a broad range of activities involving data collection, analysis and reporting in academic and administrative areas. The position is also responsible for reporting to external agencies such as state and federal units, accreditation agencies, and others. The position will report to the Vice President for Finance & Operations. The Director would oversee all Institutional Research activities and personnel.

Essential Job Duties:

 Gather, prepare and submit institutional data on behalf of the university to state and federal agencies, national and regional organizations.

 Respond to cyclical reporting needs, day-to-day operational data needs, and ad hoc requests for institutional data from internal units and external constituents

 Develop data querying, processing and reporting against the Ellucian Banner database

 Extract data to support institutional reports and analyses for university administrators, directors, and school chairs to make data-informed decisions

 Write complex PL/SQL statements to create database tables, views, etc. to provide extensible reporting functionality to the Banner database

 Responsible for web site management and technical support as it relates to data; oversees and/or develops web pages and uploads for institutional data.

 Participates in professional development through memberships in appropriate state, regional and national organizations.

 Benchmarking university data against similar metrics from other institutions

 Manage, maintain, and develop documentation for reporting

 Updates annual and semester reports on the university Institutional Research website

 Maintain Confidentiality of sensitive data

 Adhere to University policies and guidelines as well as state and/or federal laws and regulations regarding the dissemination of data

 Ensure accurate and reliable data is reported

 Create and maintain data-warehouses as needed

 Create and maintain dashboards as needed

 Represent LSSU at state meetings

 Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

 Master’s Degree (or) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related filed
 Four or more years of experience with database reporting tools involving advanced database reporting functions
 Experience in data collection, processing, integration and management
 Experience with relational databases
 Experience in quantitative statistical analysis
 Experience with Excel or other spreadsheet software
 Knowledge of data analytics tools and techniques
 Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment and decision making skills
 Possess strong mathematical, computational and statistical analysis skills
 Ability to research and analyze data and independently resolves discrepancies
 Good interpersonal skills
 Ability to work and communicate well with people throughout the institution and people from outside the institution

Desired Qualifications:

 Experience working in the higher education domain
 Experience with SQL scripting
 Experience with federal government, state government, the HLC, specialized program accreditation organizations reports like IPEDS, NCAA etc
 Familiarity with data visualization software and techniques
 Demonstrated experience in PL/SQL; using report writing tools; problem solving
 Experience with Oracle Databases, TOAD, Argos, Tableau, Qlik-Sense, SPSS, and R-Language
 Experience with Descriptive, Predictive and Inferential Statistical Analysis
