Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world’s leading aviation and aerospace university, seeks an innovative, results-oriented digital marketing professional with broad higher education experience and outstanding fluency in the use of Web-enabled technology to deliver compelling and impactful messages that advance brand visibility and reputation and accelerate Embry-Riddle’s emergence as an aerospace business, science and engineering powerhouse.

Reporting to ERAU’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Vice President for Digital Strategy (AVP Digital) will serve as editor in chief of significant "owned" channels including erau.edu and electronic publications, providing oversight and implementation of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University brand on all Websites and digital platforms to raise the university’s visibility and enhance its reputation among key constituents and target audiences including prospective students, donors, employees, industry partners and community stakeholders. The role will be responsible for developing and driving a cohesive and holistic digital strategy and serving as a marketing and communications integrator with an enterprise view of the "big picture" story of the university across all audiences, channels and campaigns.

The AVP for Digital will lead a team of strategists, content producers, designers, developers and digital marketers. This person will work closely with internal staff and external vendors to leverage analytical insights to help drive marketing decision-making, content prioritization, personalization, optimization and positioning. ERAU is seeking a positive, strategic, creative and solution-oriented leader with broad expertise in the issues and challenges facing private higher education, a strong background and significant portfolio in higher education or non-profit marketing generally, and proven expertise in the review, realignment and positioning of teams for operationalizing the brand story while still accomplishing day-to-day business and editorial objectives.

We seek a seasoned communicator and effective relationship builder able to work in close collaboration with the leadership for news and media relations and the marketing strategy and creative services units as well as the administrative and academic leaders for ERAU’s Daytona Beach, Prescott, AZ and Worldwide campuses.

Responsibilities
Builds collaborative relationships to strengthen audience engagement across digital channels.
Approves, selects and manages vendor partners and freelance staff as needed.
Serves as a critical advisor to the VP of Marketing and Communications and the university senior leadership team.
Conceptualize, build and implement a comprehensive and modern digital strategy that elevates the university’s brand and raises the institution’s national and global reputation.
Oversees digital governance, ensures implementation of industry best practices and alignment with current trends.
Acts as a master integrator, connecting the dots between marketing, communications, technical and business needs and functions.
Works with other divisional leaders to integrate digital efforts into the broader marketing and communications strategy.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience leading marketing and digital teams in complex higher education environments.
Minimum of 7 years in a digital/content strategy leadership role, leading content and website development within large and diverse teams, with specific experience developing content and cross-platform "experiences" for enterprise-level websites and digital-marketing platforms.
Strong experience leading operations from concept to completion, building infrastructure, implementing operational plans and tracking measurement against KPIs.
Experience with user-centered design principles, usability, web standards, accessibility standards and implementing policies, standards and processes that support and elevate a university’s brand and use of technology throughout its digital presence.
Experience and ability to simultaneously articulate solutions for enrollment, development and general positioning.
