Vice President for Student Affairs

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Administration, the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) serves as the university’s senior student affairs officer, responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the Division of Student Affairs and its related programs, services, activities and non-academic learning experiences across multiple campus locations. The VPSA is responsible for the planning, development and management of all aspects of student affairs, including the supervision of staff, budget, strategic planning and assessment. The VPSA works collaboratively with all members of the Kean community to develop, guide and implement programs, initiatives and operations that enhance the university-wide student experience and promote student success. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

The VPSA is responsible for the oversight of the following departments: Residential Student Services; Counseling and Accessibility Services; Health Services; Center for Leadership and Service; Student Conduct; Student Governments and Organizations, including Greek Life; and the Miron Student Center. The VPSA also oversees Student Affairs operations for the Wenzhou-Kean University campus, Kean Ocean and Kean Skylands. This position requires the ability to be on-call should a health or safety emergency occur.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of supervisory managerial experience in student affairs at the university level or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the University. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills; a demonstrated commitment to students and student success; and the ability to enhance the university experience for a diverse student population.
