The Tufts Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is a membership-based educational program that offers study groups, workshops, lectures, and social opportunities for people 50+, including retirees and those nearing retirement. Currently programming takes place primarily on the Tufts Medford/Somerville campus, with some courses offered at Brookhaven at Lexington, a continuing care retirement community, and at other satellite locations. Programing takes place year-round, with virtual and in-person offerings including courses lasting from four to eight weeks, lunch and learns, lecture series, and other special events. Tufts OLLI has more than 950 members, including growing numbers outside of the greater Boston area who participate virtually.



What You'll Do

The Associate Director position is responsible for directing all aspects of the operations of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). Reporting to the Director of Professional and Custom Education, the Associate Director will work in partnership with the UC Directors of Pre-College Programs and Marketing, and will collaborate with the Office of Strategy & Program Development, Community Relations, Alumni Relations, and the Career Center. The Associate Director will be directly responsible for curriculum development, financial management, advancement, marketing, communications, interactions with the Osher Foundation, along with oversight of the program' various member-based volunteer committees. With advice from an Executive Board made up of participants in the program, the Associate Director will run the program' traditional program offerings (study groups, workshops, and lunchtime lectures), while implementing innovative offerings to attract new members, to contribute to existing members' appreciation of the program, and to grow new revenue. The Associate Director will also provide operational support as needed for the Director of Professional and Custom Education. What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Master's degree and 5-7 years' experience in educational (broadly defined) program ownership, development, and operations.
  • Excellent business skills, relationship management skills and experience working with various internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial/budget analysis, planning, reporting, synthesis and data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong Skills in MS Office (specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and ability to quickly learn new software (e.g., email systems, project management software, budgeting software, etc.).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, and issues with sensitivity in a fast-paced environment comfort with indirect management.
  • Critical thinking, process development, and operationalization skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and &ldquoall hands on deck&rdquo attitude.
  • Experience working as an individual contributor with the ability to execute the day-to-day, while working collaboratively across the school and with university-wide partners.
  • Results-oriented with demonstrated willingness to learn and be hands-on in managing activities. Collaborative, team player.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specific experience in higher education, adult / continuing education, Lifelong Learning, or post-career adult education preferred
