Worcester Polytechnic Institute - WPI

The Associate Director of Student Activities is responsible for the collaborative
development and implementation of a comprehensive student activities program, including administration of leadership programming initiatives and ensuring the health of the fraternity/sorority community. The Associate Director provides support for day-to-day operations and policies for student clubs and organizations, using a framework committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

This is an on-site position. The salary range for this position is $54,000-$63,500, based on qualifications.


  • Essential Functions

    Fraternity and Sorority Life

  • Provide leadership and support to the fraternity and sorority

    community through advisement of fraternity and sorority councils and

    chapters on campus.

  • Support and create leadership programs for the fraternity/sorority

    community including but not limited to topics surrounding risk

    management, retreats, and participation in the Northeast Greek

    Leadership Association.

  • Support the fraternity/sorority community in planning and

    implementing annual community wide events such as the Greek

    Carnival, Greek Week, Work on Worcester, Ritual Week and Greek


  • Engage with and support the Greek Alumni Council through the

    facilitation of advisor roundtables.

  • Create and distribute departmental publications such as the Greek life

    guide, newsletters, and student organization training modules.

  • Manage the Chapter Excellence review and Greek Alumni Council

    awards process.

    Student Activities and Leadership Programming

  • Chair the Student Organization Council (SOC), responsible for student

    organization recognition.

  • Support in the oversite of department-based leadership programs

    including lunches, certificate programs, and workshops.

  • Coordinate and manage advertisements, application processes,

    selection and curation of leadership materials connected to all

    leadership programs.

  • Ensure university financial policies and procedures are adhered to by

    student organizations.

  • Provide appropriate supervision for student activities, including some

    evening/weekend programs.

  • Serve as a resource to all student organizations and process all

    entertainment contracts.

  • Effectively use reflection and assessment of student programming

    including students engaged in service and fraternity/sorority life.

  • Collaborate with staff on training programs and resources for student

    workers, interns and/or staff support.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of department sponsored social

    justice programming.

  • Participate in departmental and division of Student Affairs activities.

  • Serve on division or campus wide committees as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Administration and Risk Management

  • Manage student organization travel including approval of travel and

    management of associated paperwork and contracts.

  • Serve as a conduct officer for organization cases.

  • Serve as a member of the Administrator-On-Call group as coordinated

    through the Dean of Students Office.

  • Serve on division or campus wide committees as appropriate.

  • Co-advise SMART to promote alcohol education and positive bystander


  • Assume responsibilities of the Director of Student Activities in their


    Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

    Job Qualifications
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required a master's degree in student personnel services or related field preferred.

  • Three to five years professional experience in student activities, including graduate work.

  • Experience working with fraternities and sororities preferred, but not required. Values the importance of community service as a component of the educational experience.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills are a necessity.

  • Value of teamwork in a fast pace, energetic, and dynamic office environment are a necessity.
