What you'll be doing

Strong applicants have exceptional public speaking skills and build positive relationships with employees, donors, community members, and leaders at UVU and in the community. Our next leader will be collaborative and focused on supporting students in a unit dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our fast-paced, team-centered environment is provides exciting challenges and rewarding work. The Senior Director is responsible for the strategic vision and administration of the Women's Success Center and its services and programs with the goal of inclusive excellence. They also serve as campus and regional expert on gender issues and builds collaborative partnerships to improve the trajectory of women in Utah and beyond. Working with both faculty and staff, this role leads a team of highly skilled professionals, with a focus on exceptional care for both students and employees.
A summary of duties includes


  • Collaborates across the institution and its campuses to provide data-informed, women-focused programs that recruit, retain, and graduate students and assess these programs to fine-tune impact. Supervise team of employees who work with Center direct student programming, community outreach and engagement efforts, targeted student recruiting, childcare, and the Research Institute at the Women's Success Center. Oversees auxiliary childcare facility and team of childcare professionals and the associated compliance, such as state licensure, accreditation, and minors on campus policies.
  • Collaborates with institutional advancement partner to maintain a productive advisory board, alumni women's board, and bring external funding resources to the institution. Directs administration of private scholarship program and off-site scholarship funds with an imperative on ethical use, honoring the intent of the funds, and support of students. Responsible for state appropriated funds, auxiliary budget, private funds, and grant funds.


  • Leads team of professional staff and their professional development. Foster an environment of exceptional care, accountability, and results for employees and students.


  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders through events, community meetings, and individual networking to connect the university to regional stakeholders and increase community awareness of WSC services and opportunities and the importance of women's degree completion and remove barriers to graduation. Proactively addresses organizational issues with positive and collaborative solutions.


  • Effectively lead teams and serve on committees with various levels of experience and responsibility.


  • Ensures staff receive appropriate training on trauma-informed care within scope of practice and how to address challenging student/employee reports of sexual assault, rape, and discrimination.


  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree from an accredited institution required, plus two years related experience to the summary of duties or a combination of education and experience totaling six years.

  • Knowledge of methods and practices of effective leadership techniques.
  • Knowledge of preparing and managing budgets and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of student retention and completion best practices.
  • Knowledge of current research regarding womens issues in higher education, Utah female demographics, workplace issues, and trends.
  • Knowledge of current research and trends regarding women and STEM fields.

Skills

  • Skills in supervising full- and part-time employees.
  • Skills in communicating professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skills in managing meetings, group dynamics, and problem solving.
  • Skills in building positive and productive interpersonal relationships.
  • Skills in presenting and persuasive speaking.

Abilities

  • Ability to use multiple software and technology platforms to communicate and work effectively.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple work streams across multiple platforms/audiences.
  • Ability to navigate a university campus, work collaboratively with multiple departments, donors, and stakeholders to achieve the department mission.
  • Ability to understand institutional policies and procedures and make appropriate application with ethical decision-making.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, communication skills, commitment to diversity, consensus building, and independent work.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and/or implementing specialized programs and services and the ability to understand and articulate womens needs and concerns as they relate to professional and education goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple budgets and raise funds from private donors, federal, and state grants in collaboration with professional development officers.
  • Ability to create a productive and positive environment for employees and students, and provide meaningful feedback to support employee professional development.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate degree and four years of experience directly related to position description.
  • Experience in working with donors, fundraising, and assessment.


Physical Requirements:

Moderate physical activity. May require physical effort including lifting up to 25 pounds and some extended periods of standing or walking.

Pay Range: $71,859 - $89,823
