Job Description

Associate Director of Office for Faculty Development (OFD)
Working under the supervision of the Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Faculty Affairs, the Associate Director will assist in the leadership and strategic direction for the development and implementation of comprehensive, coordinated programs, systems and
support for faculty development including mentorship, scholarship, leadership, and
community engagement. The Associate Director will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure that the OFD supports faculty needs. The Associate Director will oversee the development, delivery, maintenance, and evaluation of professional development opportunities including programs, materials, resources, and services.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and advisory teams to establish and implement a comprehensive, multi-year plan for the OFD.
  • Design, conduct and analyze an annual faculty needs assessment related to training, development, and satisfaction.
  • Oversee the design, development and delivery of programs, services and resources that promote the development of all faculty, regardless of rank or status, as teachers, scholars, leaders and
    community members.
  • Ensure high-quality qualitative and quantitative assessment and evaluation of all OFD programs and initiatives including reporting results, and, when necessary, revising approach.
  • Oversee the daily operational, financial, and managerial activities of the OFD, which may include supervision of professional and graduate student staff and collaboration with support staff from other offices.
  • Explores and pursue public and private funding opportunities
  • Promotes the OFD within the Stevens communities.
  • Produce an annual report of the Office’s accomplishments and goals
  • Serve on appropriate university committees.
  • Work with individual faculty and academic leaders to ensure that all junior faculty have access to successful high quality mentoring.
  • Coordinating the logistics for all OFD programs, including creating promotional materials, registration forms, and application forms; reserving event space; placing catering orders; sending regularly scheduled announcement emails; managing registrations; reviewing applications; ensuring staff coverage for each event; creating and distributing post-event surveys; and responding to inquiries about programs.
  • Assisting with the planning and facilitation of annual events including New Faculty Orientation, Faculty Awards Ceremony, and Commencement.


Required Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of five-year experience in professional development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact confidently with faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Experience with program development, management, and assessment
  • Proven ability to produce error-free promotional materials, including email announcements and flyers
  • Experience with Canvas learning management system and Stevens intranet site
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
  • Experience using Google Forms and SurveyMonkey
  • Ability to learn how to use additional software, systems, and programs as needed
