POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Director of Development (mid-level) will play a critical role in the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens effort to grow the comprehensive gift pipeline by retaining and upgrading sponsorships, memberships and annual giving ($500-$24,999). This transformational role involves both traditional and non-traditional aspects of fundraising, by securing funds to support annual events, educational programming and new gardens and facilities. The Botanic Gardens is part of Burden Museum & Gardens which includes the LSU Rural Life Museum and Windrush Gardens. A master plan for Burden Museum & Gardens was recently completed and this position will work closely with the Rural Life Museum Director of Development to support implementation of aspects of the master plan. The Director of Development will work with garden-based support organizations to assist with providing funds to support specialty gardens and develop a program for planned giving.
NATURE OF WORK: Responsibilities include: Manage a portfolio of approximately 300-400 members, donors and prospects with expected annual giving capacity in the $500- $24,999 range. Execute outreach to donors via phone, mail, email, attending events and visits. Develop, prioritize, and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for current and prospective individual donors that actively move donors along the donor continuum. Consistently and appropriately record all donor contacts in LSU’s donor database in coordination with the Botanic Gardens membership database. Secure and build sponsorships for events and programming. Assist the Senior Director of Development for major gifts that will support the implementation and sustainability of facilities and specialty gardens. Interact and collaborate with the Event Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, and the Botanic Gardens support organizations on a regular basis
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three years of experience that involved fundraising or a related field are required. Experience working in fundraising is desirable. Applicants must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, sensitivity to the needs of diverse constituencies and individuals, the ability to self-motivate and work independently, the ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and social media programs, especially in regards to Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
