University of Buraimi (UoB) – Oman, is a young dynamic and emerging institution dedicated to developing student skills and career development through global educational system. In building this dynamic university, the University invites suitably qualified candidates (priority for Omani) to apply for the following:

Position: Programmer

The Programmer shall undertake the following:

*Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and implement applications or systems beneficial for the organization.
  • Maintain, revise and update the existing systems and related databases in the University to enhance its functionality.
  • Provide support in resolving application problems/issues.
  • Write documentation and provide training to users on new or changed processes.
  • Prepare annual plan and coordinate with other departments and individuals regarding the automation of various university systems.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the implemented systems and propose improvements if identified.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

*General Requirements :

  • Bachelor degree or a Master degree preferably in Computer Applications (programming ) or, Information Systems Management.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a Program developer in a reputed organization
  • Sufficient programming experience as a program lead in a university will be an added advantage. GCC experience is a plus.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of Learning Management Systems, networking, web technology and user support services
  • Extensive knowledge in the development and application of information technology applicable to both teaching and administrative activities
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in English and Arabic would be an advantage
  • Thrive in a team environment and work well with others as well as independently
  • Ability to present ideas and concepts in business friendly and user friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail
  • Excellent negotiating skills, and ability to resolve complex and /or sensitive issues in consultation with concerned departments/ units
  • Excellent leadership, communication, team building and resource development skills
  • A creative approach to problem solving
  • Sensitive to GCC culture
