American University of Sharjah (AUS) seeks to appoint an experienced academic leader as Provost and Chief Academic Officer.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced, collaborative administrator to assume a leading role in the growth of the university and support university efforts to meet its ambitious educational and research mission. The Provost will support the university in its goal to expand its reputation as the university of choice in the region for students and faculty from across the globe. The successful candidate must represent the best and most relevant values of American education, possess excellent administrative skills and strong leadership ability. All classes are taught in English. The position is available effective immediately and includes a generous remuneration package and attractive benefits.

As the Chief Academic Officer of the University reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Provost provides vision, leadership, and operational direction for the Deans and Directors of the academic support services. In so doing, the Provost ensures that the University’s curriculum and programs of research and service continuously strive to improve in quality and content, consistent with the overall mission and strategic goals of the institution. The new Provost will play an integral part in building the human capital to transit AUS into the leading research university in the Arab World.

The Provost directs the operations of the Academic Affairs division and oversees the following organizational units and their sub-units: Office of the Provost; College of Arts and Sciences; College of Architecture, Art and Design; School of Business Administration; College of Engineering; the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Instruction; the Office of Student Affairs; the Library; the Office of Financial Grants and Scholarships; the International Exchange Office; the Office of Enrollment Management; the Registrar’s Office, the Manager of Accreditation, and the Office of Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies.

  • Earned Doctorate in one of the disciplines represented at the University
  • Full Professor with tenure from an institution within the United States of America
  • Five+ years’ experience as Dean, Vice Provost, or Provost from a research institution within the United States of America
  • Strong research portfolio as measured by Scopus and Google Scholar
  • Strong familiarity with accreditation

Faculty and their families live on campus in complimentary fully furnished apartments and town houses ranging from studios to four-bedroom units.
