Position Summary
Interested in communicating and supporting groundbreaking work within the health sciences? The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking a creative and highly motivated professional to help lead and translate the work of our faculty, staff, students and alumni through creative communication, thoughtful outreach and strategic program assessment.

The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications will be a vital team member in a highly collaborative environment to support and elevate the global reputation of the school, engage strategic audiences and support prospective student recruitment and outreach.

Under supervision of the Assistant Dean Office of External Affairs/Director of Communications, the Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing plans and implements branding/marketing strategies and services for the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This includes, but is not limited to, creation and management of web content, social media platforms, publications (both digital and print), news releases, digital communications, digital assets including basic videos/graphics, and general support of targeted admissions marketing. Acts as brand gatekeeper to ensure school-wide brand compliance.

Responsibilities Include:
Work with Assistant Dean/Director of Communications and Alumni Relations, Associate Dean of Admissions/Advisement, and faculty and staff to enhance marketing outreach and communication strategies.
Lead website administration and management through use of content management systems and web design including creation of online content, web copywriting and graphic design. Implement university-driven web and content initiatives.
Assess performance and areas for growth in audience outreach and engagement, including Google Analytics and search engine optimization.
Produce high impact content and oversee top-level social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn.
Maintain quality assurance and web accessibility based on based on the WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards, ADA/accessibility requirements.
Develop multi-media content, including news releases, graphics, video and photography to capture the cutting-edge research, clinical work and scholarly outreach of our faculty, staff, students and alumni.
Support consistency and development of the school’s visual identity and alignment with the University at Buffalo brand.
Support communication outreach/content management for school-based programs/events.
Copy writing/Press Releases.
Email marketing platforms.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Two years of experience in communications/marketing.
Strong project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications
Comprehensive experience overseeing website development along with strategic web content management systems.
Comprehensive experience managing social media accounts, content creation and management software systems: Examples: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube.
Familiarity with UB CMS platforms.
SLATE/Admissions software: communication campaign strategy.
Graphic design: Adobe Creative Suite or individual Adobe software programs (Photo Shop, InDesign). Basic video production platforms: graphic/photography editing.
Strong writing, editing and research skills, including writing experience across a range of platforms (web copy, social media, print, press releases, feature articles).
Past experience preferably in higher education, non-profit, or related field.
Accustomed to working in a fast paced, deadline driven office.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
The equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may also be considered.
