Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the VPBA/CFO, with a dotted line to the AVP/Controller, the incumbent will:

Lead accounting in the development and monitoring of functional, departmental, and colleges profit and loss statements
Report on cost centers of the University
Assist with the preparation of monthly cash flow projections
Monitor monthly reporting of profit and loss statements for the Bookstore
Monitor monthly reporting of profit and loss statements for Food Services
Monitor, review, and approve monthly invoices for: Physical Plant, Bookstore, and Food Services
Develop a Financial Dashboard in conjunction with the Controller and the CFO
Develop cost/expense allocation rules
Distinguish between contributing, supporting overhead, and administrative areas
Work with departments to identify major activities and drivers of those activities
Develop cost drivers to allocate expenses back to individual majors and courses
Develop benchmarks to identify over/underperforming majors/courses
Ensure the proper and timely preparation of 1099s and related filings

Reporting units:

Accounts Payable and the Bursar Departments

Ensure that staff members receive sufficient training to perform their essential job duties
Support modernization projects
Maintain internal operations improvement plan
Devise and implement policies and procedures to safeguard the assets of the University and ensure colleagues have a thorough understanding of these policies and procedures
Support the development of the University Operating Budget
Review fixed asset utilization and provide guidance in identifying impaired assets for improvements or disposals.
Track and monitor the rates and consumption of major utilities and the affiliated cost centers
Perform other duties as assigned


Baccalaureate  degree in Accounting or Finance
Five years of experience as an Accounting Manager, Director of Accounting or Finance, or related position
Five years of supervisory experience
Excellent analytical, written, and communication skills
Hands-on manager, capable of motivating and training staff
Ability to work both independently and within a collegial team environment

Commensurate with education, training, and experience

Additional Position Information:

Preferred experience in college and university accounting for private and/or public institutions
This position may require weekends and after normal work hours to perform job responsibilities
This position will require limited travel
This position is not through restricted funding
This is not a temporary position
