Overview
In support of the University's mission to be a high quality educational and research institution, Human Resources supports the university community through a broad array of human capital and human resource services. Human Resources is committed to partnering with university leadership to establish and enhance organization effectiveness through creation of appropriate organizational structures and recruitment, retention, and development of talent to meet unit/department objectives. What You'll Do
Provide strategic HR leadership for key functions within HR including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning and Development and HR Business Partners for the staff community within Tufts 10 schools and Central Administration. Collaborate with key stakeholders and HR functions to deliver proactive and innovation solutions to meet the needs of the community. Provide strong change management leadership to ensure successful implementation of strategic priorities, in conjunction with HR partners.
- Oversees and directs the prioritization and delivery of HR solutions for staff across the university including people strategy, culture and belonging, organizational efficiency, strategic succession and workforce planning, employee engagement and retention and employee relations.
- Serves as a data-driven thought partner accelerating problem-solving and driving business outcomes through people strategies.
- Leads and develops a 30+ person organization comprised of HR Business Partners, Learning & Development / Talent Management and Talent Acquisition. Ensures these functions work collaboratively and interdependently in meeting client needs. Builds trust and strong partnerships with leaders across the university.
- Collaborates with HR leadership team and with community leaders in developing innovative and progressive HR strategies and plans. Develops and implements solutions to attract, motivate, engage, and retain talent.
- Leads significant/university-wide change initiatives. Leads and participates in university-wide HR change/improvement initiatives, partnering with peers across the organization to create and share systemic solutions to HR challenges.
- Develops innovative and creative solutions with a willingness to push and gain support for transformative work. Creates and supports business outcomes with HR programs, initiatives and strategies leading to a market competitive advantage.
- Defines the Talent strategy. Defines recruiting/retention strategies, including talent competitive marketplace assessment to effectively compete and motivate talent to achieve business objectives. Develops approaches for assessing human capital risks and developing remediation strategies as appropriate. Leverages key trends and/or gaps to incorporate within strategic decisions and talent plan.
- Serves as senior strategic HR advisor and internal coach to executive leadership on all areas of human capital management.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of bachelor’s degree
- 15+ years of HR Leadership experience including experience in in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Organization Development and Human Resources Business Partner, obtained directly or in a consulting capacity
- Considerable experience (10+ years) leading an HR team in a complex, highly collaborative organization; 7 – 10 years of senior leadership partnering/consulting experience for a mid to large organization
- Proven record as an inspiring people leader for the respective the HR team, provide focus through vision and prioritization, and elevate team through coaching and development
- Experience leading large-scale change initiatives
- Comfortable navigating challenging forces in a demanding environment
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to push and challenge for transformative work in a way that brings others along.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Industrial or Labor Relations, or Organizational Psychology PHR, SPHR and/or Coaching certification
- Considerable experience as a Human Resources Business Partner, Consultant, Strategist or Specialist including experience with Change Leadership, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Organizational Development and Design, Employee Relations, Employment Practices or Employment Law
- At least 10 years of client facing or consulting experience to all levels including senior leaders
